Touching Lives and Communities Technical Assistance Project (TLC-TAP)
Welcome to the Touching Lives and Communities Web site, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (CFBCI).
Here you will find a number of resources on how Workforce Investment Boards and the One Stop Career Centers can foster sustainable collaborations with faith-based and community organizations to address employment needs in their communities.
When you register for the Discussion Area you will be able to join in with other professionals in the field -- Workforce Boards, non-profits, One Stop Career Centers, and businesses -- to share and discuss challenges, opportunities, and areas of specific interest. Those who have received grants from the Department of Labor will also be sharing effective and promising practices in addition to "lessons learned" in our Learning Circle.
The Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives also hosts conference calls, virtual and live conferences to provide education and training for Workforce Boards and non-profits about effective workforce development partnerships. Information is posted under Upcoming Events.

* Every year, the federal government spends billions of dollars for health and human service programs. There are thousands of faith-based and community organizations across the country that are providing essential help to those with the most difficult circumstances. At the same time, the federal government has often not been a willing partner to these faith-based and community groups. Instead, the government has put in place complicated rules and regulations that hinder these groups from competing for federal funds on an equal footing with other, larger charities. This document outlines three core principles which shape the President's Faith-Based and Community Initiative. These principles include:
o Equal Opportunity for All Service Providers
o Respect the Religious Liberty of Beneficiaries
o Respect the Faith of Faith-Based Groups

And, of course, among the publications I particularly like - for its title, homage to the Prez, and very cool cover is:
